1950’s London After Dark

1950’s London After Dark

Today, London is bustling, vibrant city with a buzzing nightlife and even if we step back in time we can see that this aspect of our great city has not changed! We have teamed up with The Museum of London to introduce their London Nights photography exhibition exploring the glittering club scene to late night commuters. We were totally inspired to create a lookbook featuring our Spring and Summer collection that would have complimented the swinging 50’s era in the UK.
To celebrate our collaboration, we have a special offer for our lovely customers at Collectif so keep on reading to find out more!

Our first theme features our Night out in the 50’s inspired look using fit and flare shapeoff-the-shoulder cuts combined with a glamorous fishtail to create the elegance found in the 1950’s. The choice of the grey scale photography compliments London Nights fusion of historical, conceptual and contemporary imagery. A little black dress is a timeless, chic beauty that is always relevant – no matter what century! We have teamed our gals in pearls and classic diamonds with appropriate clutch bags to compliment the overall look.

For our next look we explore our ModCloth x Collectif collection with our Nina evening swing dress and Vanessa plain swing dress which inspired our formal evening look. They’re both perfect with a petticoat for that added, extra extravagance! Our Nina comes complete with floral and lace details that compliment the sheer fabric – she’s definitely a show stopper!
Lets not forget our stunning Vanessa made from a luxurious navy satin fabric and paired with a wide fabric sash is made from a contrast ivory satin and is long enough to tie in a large bow at the waist. To add that something extra we teamed our beautiful satin dress with our Claudia pearl clutch to compliment the ivory sash.

For our third and final lookbook we were inspired by our Caterina and Frida cuts which were very common shapes in the 1950’s. We’re loving floral prints teamed with floral hair pieces to embody a truly vintage style. Both of our bespoke designs were created in collaboration with ModCloth and represent that soft, feminine and romantic vibe straight from the 50’s!

Be bright!

This gorgeous little combo screams Autumn with a fabulous check in bright
orange, red and yellow. Picking out the red tones from the Alexa Autumn
Leaves skirt
, team it with the Jorgie polo top with its sweet buttoned peter pan collar, the Tisha belt to accentuate the waist and a Maddy petticoat to add extra swish with every step you take. The Kiria necklace and Evie Ascot scarf add interest with little accent pops of mustard to match the check. Finish off this outfit with the Korrina trench coat, which can easily fit a petticoat underneath its full swing skirt, and the ruched faux leather gloves to keep your hands toasty on a crisp morning.

Two Tone-tastic!

Wearing tonal shades of the same colour always works really well, especially when it’s an autumnal shade like a deep forest green. The Mara Garden Stripes swing design features two green accent colours, long sleeves perfect for cold days and pockets for those of us that like to plunge our hands into our dresses. Wear the Cara green cardigan over the dress to keep you warm and cosy with it’s soft and fuzzy feel, as well as the stunning Annasofia coat which features a gorgeous green velvet tie at the back. The Doris croc bag makes for a great daytime stowaway for your phone and purse, and has a fabulous faux croc texture. Complete this outfit with the Gertrude high heels and Lauren beret for a practical but cute look as you sashay around the shops.
