Pencil Dress Details

The cut. A true pencil dress is narrow through the hip and thigh with a hem below the knee. Many of ours include a back vent or a kick pleat so the shape does not restrict walking.

The waist. Most styles are seamed or belted at the natural waist, which is what separates the 1950s wiggle look from a modern straight dress.

The fabric. Stretch fabrics make the shape wearable day to day, which original 1950s versions were not.
